This little upright piano had a mouse take up residence, and it decided to remove most of the tapes from the action to use as bedding for its nest.
First job is to remove the hammers from the action rail
Remains of original tape need to be cut from the hammer butt
New set of tapes
New tapes need to be cut to length
Multiple tapes can be cut in one pass
The new tape can then be glued to the back of the counter-check
Whilst the hammers are off, we may as well clean them up
Emery cloth can be pulled over the clamped hammers
Much nicer clean surfaced hammers
Some hammer flanges have broken string, so they will be replaced
