Amphion Piano Player Company
The Amphion Piano Player Company, Syracuse, New York, manufactured several models of pneumatic piano playing mechanisms incorporating the well known features of the regular Amphion mechanism. Amphion mechanisms were sold only to manufacturers of pianos, and were installed by many different piano manufacturers. In Australia it is found in the pianola made by the famous Beale piano factory.

The Collard and Collard firm descended from Longman & Broderip and then Clementi & Co and was run by the brothers William Frederick and Frederick William. They originally worked with Muzio Clementi and took over the company after Clementi’s death in 1832.

A consortium led by Muzio Clementi bought out the interest of ‘Longman & Broderip’, after they were declared bankrupt. From 1798 square pianos appeared bearing the new company name Longman, Clementi & Company. After Longman’s death in 1803, the business empire he had lost now traded under the name Muzio Clementi & Co.
